NEWS: Jharkhand Judge Uttam Anand Killed in a Road Accident

Dhanbad Additional District and Session Judge was killed in a road accident by an unidentified vehicle, while he was on morning walk.

The incident took place at most 500mtr from the Judge’s colony in Hirapur, where he was residing.

CCTV footage has been surfaced which shows the vehicle deliberately rammed into the judge while he was walking roadside.

The FIR has been registered by the Dhanbad Police.

It is known that judge was hearing some high-profile cases including the murder case of Ranjay Singh, a close aide of Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh, and also recently rejected bail of two members of a gang of Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Justice Ravi Ranjan of the Jharkhand High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the death of a district judge.

Supreme Court declined to examine the killing of Uttam Anand in view of fact that the Jharkhand High Court has already taken suo moto cognizance of the same.

The Chief Justice of India said: “I spoke to the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. He has taken up the case and all officers are asked to be present. Now leave it there. If we involve at this stage the probe will be hindered,”
