The Delhi High Court refused to grant interim protection to Pinki Chaudhary over raising Anti-Muslim slogan at Jantar Mantar.
Bhupinder Tomer alias Pinki Chaudhary v. The State of NCT of Delhi
Justice Mukta Gupta denied any interim protection from arrest till September 13.
Advocate appearing for Chaudhary submitted that he did not raise any slogan as alleged in the FIR.
“At the outset, my client has not raised any slogans. The organiser, Ashwini Upadhyay has already been granted bail … My client was not there in slogan chanting. There is an interview they are relying on to say because of interview Section 153A is attracted. The FIR is for slogan chanting. I am not there in slogan chanting,” he argued.
The Additional Public Prosecutor Tarang Srivastava informed the Court that there are certain transcripts and videos which have been sent to the Court showing that slogans were chanted against the Muslim community in the event.
APP submitted “He was very much a part of the event and was one of the organizers. We have filed another video wherein one of the participants went live on Facebook and was abusing a particular community,”
The High Court declined to grant interim protection and posted the matter for further hearing on September 13. The court also insisted that a status report be filed in the matter.
