Baba Ram Rahim sentenced to Life Imprisonment

Former Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and 4 others have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the CBI court, Panchkula for the murder of Ranjeet Singh.

Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Avtar Singh, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil Singh and Krishan Lal have been held guilty and convicted for the offence punishable under Section 120-B IPC read with Section 302 IPC and Section 506 read with Section 120-B IPC.

As per the investigation of CBI, Ranjit Singh was shot dead on 10th July 2002, as he was suspected of the circulation of the anonymous letter about the cases of sexual exploitation of the female followers of Baba Ram Rahim.

Earlier, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has dismissed the plea filed by the son of Ranjit Singh seeking a transfer of the trial to any other CBI court in Haryana, Punjab or Chandigarh.
