Total 120 seats which is under NLSIU Bangalore, will be competed. Also the eligibility criterion for the entrance has been kept same as CLAT.
On September 3 that the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, announced its decision to hold a separate test for admission to five years B.A LLB Course for the academic year 2020-21. The new test called the “National Law Aptitude Test” is proposed to be held online on September 12.
A division bench comprising of Justive B.V nagarathna and Justice Ravi. V Hosmani have passed an interim order on the petitions filed by master balachandra Krishnan, an aspirant to a seat in the NLSU, the Bar council of India and Others.
The bench reserved its final verdict on the constitutional validity of The National Law School of India (Amendment) Act 2020, after completion of arguments. However the NLSU subsequently filed an application before the bench informing about its decision to conduct its own entrance test for selection to students for the academic year. 2020-21 citing repeated postponement of common law admission test (CLAT) to be conducted by the consortium of National Law Universities across India.
On Sept 6 however, the Consortium of National Law Universities has resolved to divest NLSIU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Krishnaswamy of the post of Secretary-Treasurer of the Consortium. Prof Faizan Mustafa will discharge the administrative and secretarial functions of the Consortium in the interim. NLU Odisha Vice-Chancellor Prof SKD Rao shall discharge the financial functions of the Treasurer of the CLAT Consortium.
Prof Mustafa has given clarification as decided in the meeting to clarify all the confusions for the purpose of smooth functioning of the consortium and also to clarify the positions of various aspirants.
It was also stated that, whatever Prof Sudha Krsihnaswamy has opined, it is his personal views and that no other members are willing to conduct its independent test. The news spread like a wildfire in Media which resulted in the further assumptions. The Consortium further resolved that the actions of the NLSIU Vice-Chancellor are in derogation of its by-laws and objectives. In this light, the Consortium has. decided to divest Prof Krishnaswamy of his duties as Secretary-Treasurer.
