NEWS: NLAT 2020, NLSIU Entrance Test to be held on 12th September 2020

The National Law School of India University has released the time slots of the National Law Aptitude Test, 2020 (NLAT) will be conducted for admission to undergraduate and post-graduate courses.

The exam is scheduled on 12th of September, 2020.  Timing and slots are provided.

There are a total of 23 NLUs, of which 22 were part of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) Consortium for the 2020-2021 admission process. The National Law University Delhi has been conducting its separate entrance exam.

Recently on September 3rd 2020, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru notified its separate all India entrance exam for the academic session 2020-2021. The Exam will be an online home based entrance exam.

The NLSIU has withdrawn itself from CLAT Consortium which was formed on 19th August, 2017.

The NLSIU contends its worry about the undergoing crisis facing ‘Zero Year’ if the admissions would not complete by September, 2020. And its unique system of trimester would further disadvantage due to the delay.

Meanwhile, petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court and other High Courts challenging NLSIU’s decision to hold a separate entrance exam instead of considering the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) scores for its admissions this year.

The Jharkhand High Court today reserved its order stating:

“The main issue is that of jurisdiction of the High Court, given the pan-India ramifications of the exam…”

on a petition challenging NLSIU’s move to conduct its separate examination, the NLAT, 2020.
