NEWS: Karnataka HC puts Stay on 25% Domicile Reservation in NLSIU

Karnataka High Court on Tuesday passed an interim order to NLSIU Amendment Act, 2020 passed by the Karnataka State Assembly granting 25% state reservation in NLSIU Bengaluru.

Also Court stayed the 5% concession on the Cut-off score in the admission test for the students of Karnataka.

The bench comprising of Justices B V Nagaratha and Ravi Hosmani were in view:

“Bearing in mind issue that arises in petitions and being conscious of interest of students who are aspiring to take admission to the law school we think it proper to pass interim order.

The Court clarified that all admissions to NLSIU will be treated as provisional admissions until the final order.

The Bench said:

“Since we have stayed the impugned amendment we have also stayed the 5% concession. However, NLSIU prepare the list as per the impugned amendment and 5% concession and keep it in a sealed cover and don’t publish it. Publish only the merit list without the amendment.
