NEWS: Delhi High Court held promise of marriage can’t be taken as inducement for sex over an indefinite period

Single judge bench of Justice Vibhu Bakhru of Delhi High Court ruled that promise of marriage cannot be taken as inducement for engaging in sex over a long and indefinite period.

Order was passed against the appeal to trial court dated 24th March, 2018 in which accused was acquitted of the offences under section 417 & 376 of IPC, 1860.

The bench held that both, complaint made by the appellant as well as her testimony that her relationship with the accused was consensual. Moreover, there was also inordinate delay of 640 days in filing appeal without any ground for condoning such delay.
